Today saw the start of Estonia's ruthless and unlawful crackdown on legal European betting operators, as the country's internet service providers began blocking the country's citizen's from accessing the 175 sites included on the newly-released 'blacklist'.
Estonian consumers will now no longer be able to use the services of many legal and fully licensed betting brands, due to the draconian measures of their government.
There is one betting provider which has escaped the black-list, Olympic Gaming, which unsurprisingly are Estonian-based. The blocking measures have effectively created an Estonian gambling monopoly and now, Estonian consumers are set to suffer.
An inferior service, less choice and less profitable odds are now all they can have access to, and we think it's a disgrace. Today, in an era of widespread integration and cooperation within the EU, the Estonian government have enforced a blanket ban in order to protect their local offering and its valuable revenue stream.
We urge the European Commission to act on this issue, and ensure that the fundamental principles of the European Union are upheld in this instance.
We also urge you to sign our petition which is fighting for the right of all Europeans to bet with whichever licensed provider they choose, be they in Estonia, or anywhere else.
